It was here that she met Bob and they were married on November 4, 1942. They moved to Fort Garry in 1954 into the house where Mum lived until she was no longer able to stay in her own home.her family was the most important part of her life, she was an active member of Fort Garry United Church, a life-time member of the United Church Women and volunteer at Fort Garry Family Life.was a great baker and shared her cookies, muffins and other treats with family and many friends. She was an avid bowler, reader, and bridge player in several bridge groups. She did not enjoy handicrafts, but supported her daughters’ interest in sewing, knitting and other textile crafts. Mum was known for her quiet, kind and caring nature and her unconditional love.favourite place was the family cottage at Big Whiteshell Lake, which she and Dad purchased in 1965. It was there that she spent many pleasurable hours with her family and that of her sister Anne. Mum and Anne’s favourite activity in the spring was to walk down gravel pit road to see if the crocuses had started to bloom.has been cremated and her ashes will be placed with her mother in Tisdale Cemetery. At her request, there will not be a funeral. A private memorial will take place at a future date. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Stephen (Michele) Brannan, Kate (Charlie) McDonough, Patrick (Heidi) Brannan, Scott (Sue) Edwards and Lisa (Gord) Young. Loving great grandfather to Joshua, Patrick, Blair, Joseph, Adrienne, Andrew, Sean, Angelica and Claudia. Harry was the proud owner and operator of Harry Edwards Appliances, Toronto. He was active in his church, community service and the Toronto Board of Trade Club and enjoyed the opportunity to travel worldwide. At the family’s request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to World Vision would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. He was born on December 30, 1948 in Lindsay, Ontario to George Edward Edwards and Evelyn Olive Edwards. Those mourning his great loss are his partner of 46 years, Marsha Fouks, his brother Barry Edwards (Barb), his sister Eldene Edwards, nephews Willy Drinkwater (Joanna), Craig Drinkwater, niece Janice Edwards, great nephews Noah Edwards and Jeremy Drinkwater, great niece Sarah Drinkwater, and Wendy Fouks and John Anthony. Ralph grew up in Sunderland, Ontario and moved to Toronto in the early 70s. It was through great initiative, hard work and focus that he was able to open his own mortgage company. He was respected in his field and managed his company well through all the ups and downs of the economy. He had a deep and special love for his parents who were extremely proud of everything Ralph had accomplished. Ralph will be remembered as a compassionate, kind, loving person with a wonderful sense of humour and a gift for making those around him feel welcome and respected. He seemed to always have a smile for everyone and loved to laugh his deep throaty laugh. He was so much fun to be with. He readily engaged people and enjoyed travelling, especially taking car trips with Marsha. He was passionate about hiking, particularly in New England and the South West U.S. One of his favourite trips was hiking and camping in the Grand Canyon. Ralph adored his dogs, Sophie, Maggie and Katie who trained him to take lots of healthful walks in the neighbourhood (meeting more people), through parks, golf courses and doggie hiking trails in the ravines. He loved playing cards, especially Bridge, and enjoyed other games as well - from Dominoes to Pickle ball. Games nights with friends and Marsha’s homemade pizza was a regularly enjoyed activity, as well as BBQs by the pool. Ralph really enjoyed the community of friends he and Marsha made in their condo and at Pickleball. His was a well lived life. Marsha would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this extremely difficult time. Special thanks to Dr. Susanna Yee-Shan Cheng at Sunnybrook Hospital and her entire team, Dr. Jordan Elmalem at the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, all the caregivers and nurses who were wonderful to Ralph and lastly to the doctors and nurses associated with the Palliative Care Unit at Sunnybrook.
